short fix: ANNA AND BELLA

Børge Ring's 'Anna & Bella'

On Saturday night, ninety-one-year-old Dutch animator Børge Ring received a Winsor McCay Lifetime Achievement Award at the Annie Awards. (The Annies are the animation community’s equivalent to our very own Spirit Awards.) The Academy Award-winning animator was not able to attend in person, in part because of a house fire which destroyed his home earlier in the week. Thankfully, no one was injured, but Ring and his wife lost everything, including the Oscar he won for his 1984 animated short Anna and Bella.

Ring has always been very active online, corresponding with friends and admirers through his web site borgering.com. Now, another web site, help.borgering.com, has been set up for people who wish to help Ring through this difficult time.
