short fix: THE GUILT, YOUR FILM FESTIVAL WINNER

Michael Fassbender & winner David Victori
Labor Day marks the start of the fall film festival season, that glorious time of year seemingly made for the cinephile, what with all the festivals that take place: Telluride, Toronto, Venice and… YouTube?
That’s right. Earlier this year, YouTube joined the film festival circuit with Your Film Festival, an online festival of 50 fifteen-minute shorts voted on by the YouTube community, who narrowed the pool down to ten.
Those ten finalists were whisked away just this weekend to the Venice Film Festival where actor Michael Fassbender announced the winner: The Guilt by David Victori. His prize? A $500,000 grant to make another film, with support from Ridley Scott and the team at Scott Free Productions.
YouTube being YouTube, they got it all on video, of course. Check out the finalists having their minds blown by Venice if you like, and definitely watch the winning short film below. It’s a dark Memento-esque mind-bender, so obviously we’re in.
The Guilt by David Victori:
That was your short fix for the day. Now get out there and make something too!
