short fix: THE QUEEN

When the prom queen and her boyfriend stop by with their dress and tuxedo, Bobby has his own prom to remember.
The perfect dress, the perfect date, the perfect night… all are a part of Bobby’s beautiful teen dream fantasy in Christina Choe’s The Queen.
Choe cast her own mother as the mother in the film, and gave us some details on the experience:
“After filming the first take with my mom (who plays Bobby’s mom and has never acted before), I gave her some direction. She immediately said to me, ‘What! Why? That was perfect, why do I have to do it again?’ in front of the entire cast and crew. I said, ‘Mom, because I’m the director!’”
Christina Choe is an LA Film Festival alum and her new short, I Am John Wayne, can be seen in this year’s Festival — you can get tickets for the Shorts Program here, and in the meantime check out The Queen:
