CAMERON WATSON:

DIRECTOR, OUR VERY OWN

Exclamation mark

Cameron Watson comes to his first filmmaking experience after an extensive acting career which began in New York City where he starred in the original production of Horton Footes Off-Broadway play The Widow Claire at Circle in the Square. Watson's debut feature film, Our Very Own, starring Allison Janney, Jason Ritter, Cheryl Hines, and Keith Carradine, world premiered at the 2005 Los Angeles Film Festival to a packed DGA Theater audience. Allison Janney was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female for her work in the film. Variety film critic Robert Koehler praised Ms. Janney saying, "What's amazing about Ms. Janney's performance is that it is just the beginning of what turns into one of the most fully realized female characters in recent American film." The movie has gone on to win the Grand Prize at the Bluegrass Independent Film Festival, an Outstanding Ensemble Acting Award at the Sarasota Film Festival, and the Special Jury Prize at the Rome International Film Festival, among others. Prior to making the film, Watson was working in Los Angeles for many years building an acting career in film and television, while still acting in theatres around the country. Watson's lengthy television career spans from Dynasty and Cheers to CSI Miami and Six Feet Under. Watson just directed the L.A. stage hit, I Capture the Castle, recently nominated for six Ovation Awards. Last theatre season, Watson directed the critically acclaimed, award winning stage production of Horton Foote's The Habitation of Dragons.
