Richard Klubeck is a motion picture agent and Co-Head of the Independent Film Group at UTA where he represents filmmakers, financiers, and production companies. Additionally, he develops financing and distribution strategies for UTA-packaged motion pictures and handles the sale of world-wide distribution rights for independently financed films, including such titles as Hustle & Flow (directed by Craig Brewer, starring Terrence Howard), Dave Chappelle's Block Party (directed by Michel Gondry), Science of Sleep (directed by Michel Gondry, starring Gael García Bernal), Thumbsucker (directed by Mike Mills), The Libertine (directed by Laurence Dunmore, starring Johnny Depp), Junebug (directed by Phil Morrison), Right at Your Door (directed by Chris Gorak), The Night Listener (directed by Patrick Stettner), Southland Tales (directed by Richard Kelly, starring Dwyane Johnson, Sean William Scott, and Sarah Michelle Gellar), and The Devil and Daniel Johnston (directed by Jeff Feuerzeig). Klubeck represents filmmakers including Joel and Ethan Coen, Wes Anderson, Mike White, Carl Franklin, Takeshi Shimizu, Miranda July, Scott Burns, Patrick Stettner, Alex and David Pastor, and production companies including This is That, Vertigo and Thousand Words. Prior to joining UTA, Klubeck spent nearly four years as CEO of Jersey Films. While there, Klubeck was a producer on Jersey's independent feature Garden State, starring Zach Braff, Natalie Portman, and Peter Sarsgaard, which was released by Fox Searchlight/Miramax and earned a 2005 Independent Spirit Award for best first feature. In addition, he executive produced Camp, which played in competition at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival and was released by IFC, and supervised Jay Chandrasekhar's comedy Supertroopers. Prior to Jersey Films, Klubeck was Executive Vice President of Mel Gibson's Icon Productions. Klubeck earned his JD at the University of California, Berkeley. He is married with three children and lives in Santa Monica.
