Monthly group consultations focusing on one aspect of fi lmmaking, hosted by a prominent film professional. Each session our guest speaker answers your questions on topics ranging from Production and Post Production, to Financing and Distribution. Recent Consult This speakers have included distribution consultant Peter Broderick, publicist Chris Libby, producer Ted Kroeber, and entertainment attorney Shelley Surpin.

Indie Link

Are you an actor who wants to meet a casting director? A director seeking a cinematographer? A screenwriter looking for a producer? Then this is the event for you. Indielink is your opportunity to network and find the person you need to get your next project going. Held here at Film Independent, Indielink pairs you up with other industry professionals in a structured, yet informal setting. Indielinks are held quarterly, on the third Tuesday of the month and alternates with Shop Talk. Be sure to check the website or calendar for specific Indielink dates and details.

Shop Talk

Our Shop Talk program addresses current issues related to the independent filmmaker`s day-to-day practice. This quarterly event features both beginner and advanced topics such as how to survive between gigs, taking advantage of fi lm tax credits, understanding the ratings system and much more. Recent Shop Talk topics have included composing and music rights, negotiating deals, pitching, and working with animals in film.

Tech Talk

Whether you`re a seasoned pro, or a filmmaker exploring your options for your next project, our Tech Talks will keep you up to date on the latest tools for making and distributing your films. From hands-on camera tutorials to in-depth workfl ow discussions and innovative distribution alternatives, these sessions are designed to help filmmakers stay ahead of the curve. Recent Tech Talk topics have included digital intermediates, distribution deliverables, HD/Digital Workfl ow, and HD cameras.
