A CLOSER LOOK AT ‘MARGARET’ WITH ANNA PAQUIN & KENNETH LONERGAN

#TeamMargaret invaded Film Independent at LACMA last week when we screened the extended cut of Kenneth Lonergan’s Margaret, the long-awaited follow up to his Academy Award–nominated debut You Can Count on Me. Both Lonergan and star Anna Paquin were on hand to chat with Elvis Mitchell after the screening:

An indelible coming-of-age story, Margaret centers on a teenage girl (Anna Paquin) who witnesses—and maybe causes—the death of a pedestrian hit by a bus in a busy Manhattan intersection. Featuring rich, complex performances from a powerhouse cast that includes Mark Ruffalo, Matt Damon and Matthew Broderick, the film became a cause célèbre with critics and audiences when it was released in late 2011. Check out these glowing reviews to find out why, or rent the film and see for yourself.

I would like to complain and launch years worth of lawsuits over how short this post-screening interview was cut.

Also, we recently (and unknowingly) joined #TeamMaraget by writing this open-letter review to a member of the actual Team Margaret…

    Dear Cory Poccia, Post-Production Coordinator,

Wow. I hope you claimed some serious overtime. Margaret was meant for release in 2007, and after legal battles and re-cuts to change the film’s length, the rest of us finally have a chance, five years, later to see Kenneth Logerman’s sophomore directorial effort. Amazingly, and against the odds, your heavy workload paid off. This film was worth the wait. And even, dare I say, worth the weight… (CON’T)…
