It`s hard to believe 28 years have passed since director Gregory Nava and a small band of fellow directors, producers and writers gathered to talk about creative ideas and increasing resources for independent filmmakers. When this group of filmmakers launched IFP/West (now Film Independent), there were few studios interested in smaller films, and art house cinemas were scattered across the country in boutique locations.
