Salma Hayek & Jeremy Renner Will Be Spirit Awards Co-Chairs
The start of the new year marks the rush to the Film Independent Spirit Awards on February 23, and we couldn’t be more excited. Nominees for all of the award categories were announced last November and a few talented filmmakers will be receiving top honors prior to the show, and in good company.
Actors Salma Hayek and Jeremy Renner have just been named honorary co-chairs for the 2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards and will be hosting the Spirit Awards Nominee Brunch on January 12, where Film Independent’s grant winners for 2013 will be announced.
FIND Co-President Sean Mc Manus remarked on our co-chairs’ commitment and belief in “supporting independent film as an artistic form of expression and encouraging the next generation of filmmakers,” which makes both actors the perfect people to help honor the best in indie film. Stay tuned on January 12 to find out which filmmakers will be receiving cash grants from Film Independent, Stella Artois, Piaget and Jameson. Winners will be announced live via our Twitter feed @filmindependent!
