Emergency Filmmaker Support Fund

Times are tough, but together we can take on any challenge. We stand with our Fellows.

Film Independent, through its Emergency Filmmaker Support Fund, will provide grants to Film Independent Fellows whose livelihoods have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Grants range from $500 to $5,000 to offer immediate relief.

Priority will be given to those dealing with immediate health issues, maintaining households, and individuals from marginalized communities, followed by filmmakers who have projects in post-production. Special consideration will be given to those who can, in turn, provide or sustain employment opportunities for others.

How to Apply

We are accepting applications via Submittable.com. Visit our Submittable application page and create an account to get started.

Grant applications will be accepted in two-week cycles, or each time a threshold of $10,000 has been reached. In the interest of quick turnaround, grantees will be selected by an internal vetting process based on urgency of need. Grants will be distributed every three weeks and continue through the crisis, contingent on the availability of funds.

Film Independent will provide support to as many Fellows as possible, and we are actively fundraising with that goal in mind.
