Bio

Sahar Jahani is a first-generation Iranian American writer/director raised in Los Angeles. She worked in scripted development at YouTube Originals before transitioning to the writers’ room on the Emmy-nominated series Ramy, where she was awarded a Peabody for her work on the first season. Since then, Jahani has written on several acclaimed shows including 13 Reasons Why, The Bold Type and Life & Beth. She has also written feature films for producer Amy Pascal and adapted a You’ve Got Mail-inspired rom com with executive producer Mindy Kaling. Her writing has also appeared in the NYT’s Modern Love column. Jahani is a Sundance Building Bridges and a Film Independent Project Involve Fellow.

With Your Permission is about three Iranian American Muslim sisters navigating their relationship to intimacy when they discover their sixty-year-old, widowed mother is getting remarried, forcing them to re-examine everything they thought they knew about love, family and forgiveness.
