Festival Visions: Oneyda

Festival Visions: Oneyda
Festival Visions, now in its third year, is a series that shines a light on films discovered this year in regional film festivals across the US. We’re excited to present these exceptional titles that are currently without distribution and deserve to be seen by a wider audience.
You’re invited to join us for an online screening of Oneyda, followed by a pre-recorded conversation with director Yulian Martínez-Escobar, moderated by Joi Tribble (Shorts Program Director, Sidewalk Film Festival).
Oneyda was selected for Festival Visions in partnership with the Sidewalk Film Festival and will screen alongside To a Land Unknown. (Remember, no need to register for both of these titles – as long as you register for one film, you’ll be able to see both.)
Oneyda is a single mom from Guatemala working in construction and electrical services. She is raising two teenage girls in South Carolina and building a new life for herself and her family after surviving a chapter filled with violence and economic instability. Despite the challenges that come with being an undocumented immigrant, Oneyda has embraced the various gender roles in her life as she works day after day in a high-risk, traditionally male work environment.
2025, 14 minutes, color | Director Yulian Martínez-Escobar | Produced by Seth Gadsden, Amada Torruella
