Bio
Jess X. Snow is a Chinese-Canadian filmmaker utilizing poetic surrealism to bring the interior healing journeys of Chinese immigrant queers to the big screen. Named a 25 New Face of Independent Film by Filmmaker Magazine, their four short films are coming soon to the Criterion Channel. They screened at 50+ festivals including: BFI, SFFilm and Durban (Special Jury Mention). Their debut feature When The River Split Open is supported by Canada Council for the Arts, Cine Qua Non and Film Independent’s Producing Lab. They served as producer/cinematographer on We Were The Scenery (2025 Sundance Short Film Jury Award for Non-Fiction).

On an overdue visit to their ancestral land, an impulsive Chinese American escapes their over-protective maternal family to search for their estranged father—whose disappearance is entwined with the extinction of the Yangtze River dolphin.
