Lanka Bandaranayke is an award-winning Sri Lankan filmmaker and actor. Her debut short film, Tradition (2016) screened at over 50 international film festivals, including open doors screenings at Locarno Film Festival, and won multiple awards. In 2020, she directed Inheritance, with British Council support, earning recognition at the Colombo International Women’s Film Festival. Her 2021 film, Mahasona, was selected for global festivals, including Tasveer. Lanka’s work often explores gender inequality and cultural tensions. She also directed the documentary She, highlighting women peacebuilders. A Chevening Scholar, she completed her Master’s in Directing in the UK and continues creating impactful cinema internationally.
