Zoya Laktionova is a documentary filmmaker and contemporary artist. She was born in Mariupol in a working class family in 1984. Zoya first appeared in the world of documentary cinema as a character in 2017, and a year later made her first short documentary, “Diorama,” about the mined sea in the Mariupol area. Zoya’s films are screened both at film festivals and at art museums. Her short films have been shown at DOK Leipzig and Cottbus, as well as at the Centre Pompidou (Paris) and MUMOK (Vienna). She works with themes of war, memory, and personal stories.
