Always Remember: Hollywood and Hitler
Always Remember: Hollywood and Hitler
Always Remember is a free film series designed to raise Holocaust awareness through cinema. Returning after a successful inaugural year, the series is expanding with Always Remember, On the Road. This iteration broadens the reach of the program by pairing in-person community screenings with virtual screenings to engage audiences nationally and globally.
You’re invited to join us for a theatrical screening of Hollywood and Hitler, including an in-person conversation with directors Clara Kuperberg and Julia Kuperberg.
As Hitler rose to power, Hollywood’s relationship with Nazi Germany became a collision of commerce, censorship and politics. American studios altered films, avoided subjects that could jeopardize foreign distribution and navigated pressure from German officials. At the same time, pro-Nazi organizations were building a presence in the United States, including Los Angeles. Drawing on rare archives and the research of historians Thomas Doherty and Steven J. Ross, the documentary follows two intertwined stories: the film industry’s uneasy accommodation with the Third Reich and the largely forgotten network created by attorney Leon Lewis to infiltrate Nazi and fascist groups in Southern California. As the decade darkens, the film asks how long commercial caution can coexist with political reality.
From ARTE Distribution, Hollywood and Hitler premiered in 2026 at the Los Angeles Museum of Tolerance and is an official selection of the Philadelphia Jewish Film and Media Festival and the Rehoboth Beach International Film Festival.
A reception will be held before the screening at 7:00 pm.
