After last’s year’s popular primer on Virtual Reality, Film Independent is excited to start an occasional series of seminars on VR for filmmakers, curated and programmed by Sarah Berkovich, Film Independent’s Manager of Youth & Online Programs.

This first session will offer an overview of VR and is perfect for filmmakers considering branching out into this exciting medium, but unsure of where to start. Topics covered will include developing your concept, choosing the right camera, how to approach directing in 360, VR production workflow and funding & distribution.

About the Instructor

Sarah is a graduate of the Stanford MFA in Documentary Film and Video program, and an alumnus of Emerson College. After living in Silicon Valley, Sarah became fascinated with virtual reality and began working with startups developing 360 camera rigs and content. She is a fellow in the Oculus Launchpad program for emerging leaders in VR, and seeks to explore the storytelling potential of this new medium.
