Free Members-Only Screening: LFG

Please note…

This screening has reached its registration capacity.

Film Independent Members, you and a guest are invited to watch LFG in our Film Independent Presents Online Screening Room, powered by Vision Media. A special pre-recorded conversation with writers/directors/producers Andrea Nix Fine and Sean Fine, moderated by Jenn Wilson (Senior Programmer, Film Independent) is included as part of this screening experience.

LFG (Let’s F*cking Go) is a gripping documentary feature centering on the United States women’s national soccer team’s public — and controversial — fight for equal pay. Written and directed by Academy Award® winners Andrea Nix Fine and Sean Fine, LFG is an intimate look inside the historic gender-discrimination, class-action lawsuit filed by America’s winningest soccer team against their employer, the U.S. Soccer Federation in order to prove their worth — and ultimately that of the millions of women around the world who are paid less than their male peers. LFG is told in the voices of the US Women’s National Team players, as the film follows them through their historic lawsuit, which was filed against the Federation just three months before the team’s incredible World Cup victory, and the ensuing professional, personal and emotional tolls the ordeal takes on the players. Using cinema verité filmmaking, LFG follows a year in the player’s lives via behind-the-scenes moments and interviews with players Megan Rapinoe, Jessica McDonald, Becky Sauerbrunn and others, giving viewers unprecedented access to the physical demands and pressures of being among the world’s top athletes. The film also showcases the players’ courage, unflinching spirit and resiliency in an effort to create lasting social change as they wage the biggest fight for women’s rights since Title IX.

From HBO Max, LFG will be available to stream June 24.
