Chinonye is a Nigerian-born American filmmaker, educator and social justice warrior, whose feature film Clemency won the US Dramatic Grand Jury prize at Sundance 2019 and was met by rave reviews. The feature also garnered nominations from the Film Independent Spirit Awards, the Gotham Awards, and was recognized throughout a slew of international film festivals. Her directorial abilities can be seen in Season 2 of Sorry for Your Loss, where she directs the season’s second episode. Chinonye is attached to direct Black Panther leader Elaine Brown’s biopic, Taste of Power, produced by Robbie Brenner and Scooter Braun Projects. She is also slated to direct the first block of the anticipated HBO Max series, Americanah in collaboration with Danai Gurira (executive producer, writer) and Lupita Nyong’o (producer.)
