A college grad still living at home struggles to start her “adult life” and dream career of being an elementary school teacher, as a fear-mongering society and episodes of hallucinations keep her paralyzed and struggling to face years of repressed guilt.
Synopsis
As an honors student, Sasha graduated with a degree in education always wanting to become a teacher. Now, on her second year of post-grad, she’s still living under her parents’ roof, grappling with how to enter a world that feels foreign from the one she grew up dreaming of, while increasing anxieties and hallucinations force her to confront the very thing she got so good at hiding.
Carrot Soup is a story that feels deeply human — tender, funny, and quietly devastating. It’s about the awkward, bittersweet process of realizing that adulthood doesn’t necessarily mean clarity, stability, or success — but that meaning can still be found in the small, imperfect moments. It explores where in our life the experience of stagnancy can help or hinder us, and at what point it’s time for us to face the secrets we’ve kept to ourselves for long enough. It’s a story that reflects the contradictions of growing up in this moment in history: how isolating and absurd it can feel, and how, despite it all, we keep searching for meaning, connection, the version of ourself we’re proud to claim.
