Logline
In the aftermath of their mom’s death, siblings Chloe and Max grieve in very different ways; Max strives to be the perfect son while Chloe numbs her pain with drugs, launching the first of many spirals of addiction she will face in life.
Synopsis
This edutainment webseries is designed to accompany curricula for grades 7-12, with each of the 10 episodes coming with its own corresponding learning material.
As two siblings weather the storm of grief in their own separate ways, a rift forms in their family, leading them onto wildly separate paths. Chloe, ever a people-pleaser, finds her casual drug use spiraling into a full-blown addiction as her hopes of a “normal” future get smaller every day. Max, the golden child feels caught between Chloe and Dad, feeling forced to pick a side between two warring forces. Dad wants him to play the informant, while Chloe uses Max as an unwilling co-conspirator and confidante. And as Chloe’s substance use disorder develops, Dad struggles with his own grief and comes to realize that “tough love” may be the complete opposite of what Chloe needs from her one remaining parent. Over the course of the story, Max learns to find his voice and a way to express how Chloe’s actions have affected him, while Chloe realizes what she wants is nothing compared to what the disease of addiction in her mind and body needs.
