When a brash stripper is pushed to her limit, we see what she’s really made of.

Synopsis

Faster is a narrative short film (approx. 10 minutes) about a woman looking to get out of town, and fast. Set in the gritty underworld of Tulsa’s strip club, Faster follows Kat, also known as Pussycat, who is offered a job for the night to make some quick cash. When her boss corners her in his office in a coercive deal of money in exchange for sexual compliance, Kat fights back in an act of rebellion. In a fit of rage, Kat steals his cash, car, and his girls.

This short film explores themes of female rage and vengeance born from sexual assault –emotions often silencing or paralyzing to the victim. As a survivor herself, Bendabout’s Faster is a deeply personal work that reflects the all-too-common female experience and the complex, often furious ways women reclaim their power in the aftermath of trauma due to the hands of men in power.
 

Meet the Filmmakers

Jessica “Jessi” McEver — Producer
Jessi McEver (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma) is a producer and culture change strategist dedicated to uplifting Native American narratives. As founder of Strawberry Moon, she delivers impact at scale through narrative strategy, impact consultation and educational resources that expand Native American representation and supports filmmakers from the global majority through PR and producorial services. As co-founder of the Tulsa Film Collective, she empowers local filmmakers through community partnerships, workshops, and skill development. With experience spanning CAA Full Story Initiative, Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros Discovery, Lionsgate, NBCU, SXSW, Sundance, and TIFF, Jessi bridges the distance between major institutions and independent filmmakers to shine a light on what’s possible. Jessi serves her community as a member of the Community Advisory Council to Burning Cedar Sovereign Kitchen.

Dylan Brodie — Producer
Dylan Brodie is from Ramona, Oklahoma – Population: 500. He began editing films in 2008, making his way from local to national film festivals, which led to work on Food Network productions and feature films for both Magnet Releasing and Blumhouse Productions. He later served as UPM and Associate Producer on Sterlin Harjo’s feature film, Mekko, and produced the series Flipping The Heartland for HGTV. Dylan has worked on shows of all sizes including the STARZ series American Gods, feature films The Mule, Stillwater, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, and Killers of the Flower Moon. He has been the UPM on commercials for companies including Nike, 2K Sports, Dish Network, and Warstic baseball bats featuring Jack White. Dylan continues to produce and production manage diverse projects and recently served as UPM for the Oscar winning A24/Plan B film Minari, the Sundance selection and Apple Original Film Fancy Dance, and Associate Produced on all three seasons of the Emmy nominated Disney/FX series Reservation Dogs. Dylan is currently Producing the second season of the Disney/FX series The Lowdown from Sterlin Harjo.

Loren Waters — Executive Producer
Loren Waters (Cherokee/Kiowa) is the founder of Waters Media, where her work spans directing, producing, and casting. Growing up in Oklahoma has shaped her cross-cultural storytelling, rooted in Indigenous experiences and community collaboration. She has been recognized on prestigious lists, including Forbes 30 Under 30 and Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces, and she currently serves as the Executive Director of the Lindy Waters III Foundation, where she is dedicated to serving Native youth and Indigenous communities.

Robert L. Hunter — Director of Photography
Robert L. Hunter — Blackfeet, Shoshone-Paiute, and Washoe — is a cinematographer and visual storyteller currently based in Los Angeles, CA, on the ancestral lands of the Tongva and Chumash peoples. Born and raised in Montana, Hunter has navigated many cultural intersections, developing a distinctive perspective that informs his lens. Robert wholeheartedly believes our optics have the power to influence the culture and shape our societal narrative. His aim is to use that power in positive service to the community. A graduate of the American Film Institute Conservatory with a focus in Cinematography, Hunter’s work centers joy, depth, and cultural clarity.
