Logline

A strange yearning afflicts a reclusive young nurse, dealing with abuse and trauma, only known to her sister who has Down’s syndrome.

Synopsis

Two reclusive sisters live in their family house – Mony is 25, she has Down’s syndrome. Dolly is 28, a nurse at the local hospital, a medical school dropout, she couldn’t complete her education after her mother’s suicide. She had to come back to take care of Mony.
Their seemingly mundane life has more to it. Dolly’s trauma causes her to take extreme steps for safety and survival, and Mony has become the keeper of the family secrets.

Nails delves into the dark side of human nature, exploring themes of violence, abuse, and the insidious practice of sweeping such matters under the rug and labelling them as “private.” The film is set in the fictitious town of Bellpur in the 90s, in Eastern India as the chill of winter settles in.
