About the SNW Fund

The Science New Wave Fund supports singular cinematic visions that offer fresh and unexpected perspectives on science’s place within culture, society, and the imagination. The fund champions projects that move beyond conventional depictions of science, embracing works that are poetic, provocative, formally inventive, and deeply research-driven.

Open to filmmakers, artists, scientists, and interdisciplinary teams from around the world, the fund celebrates bold storytelling in all its forms—from documentaries and fiction films to hybrid works, essays, installations, performances, and emerging modes of cinematic expression. It encourages daring collaborations in which scientific inquiry and artistic experimentation intersect, giving rise to new ways of seeing, feeling, and understanding the world.

At its core, the Science New Wave Fund exists to support compelling projects that expand the language of cinema and reimagine how science can be explored through moving images, narrative, and form.

ABOUT LABOCINE

Labocine.com stands for LABOratory + CINEma. It is a beautiful and necessary symbiosis.

LABOCINE has many identities: platform, magazine, portal, archive, network, and more. Its utopian dream is to challenge the status quo of streaming by creating greater transparency, access, data, and tools around cinema and its making.

How do narratives come to life? What is the process and evolution of a film? Who is making, and who is watching?

LABOCINE is the home of the Science New Wave, where scientific pursuit is free to coexist and intermingle across disciplines and cultures.

ABOUT THE SCIENCE NEW WAVE

Science New Wave has many identities:

Movement, Lab, Festival, Experiment, Archive, Organism, Collective & Ecosystem.

Check out the Manifesto

Scientific storytelling is increasingly and fearlessly experimenting in form and style. Scientific stories are becoming more personal and hybrid, tackling issues pertaining both to the individual and the world at-large. Artists, scientists, scholars, journalists and educators are working together to create singular narratives. The boundaries between data, cinema and the imaginary are dissolving. Similar to developing organisms, science films are emerging with new traits and new forms. The Science New Wave is born.
