Synopsis
The fascinating world of film and television and indeed storytelling offers a healthy alternative to the pervasive and destructive influence of the gang and drug culture on the minds of our youth here in the Western Cape where an estimated 10,000 child soldiers are active in gangs. With little or no access to viable after school programs youth in our target schools are a ready source of recruits to the gangs.
By introducing them to the world of film and television and assisting them with acquiring real skills in terms of production in department such as camera, hair and make up, directing, our program offers them an alternative to this morbid reality of gangs, drugs and violence. It is our stated intention to reclaim our youth from these elements that have come to dominate every aspect of social life in poor, dispossessed communities.
