Bio

Mental Pictures was formed by Amy Lo with a focus on director-driven original stories. Lo was awarded a 2010-2011 Sundance Institute Creative Producing Fellowship and was the sole US producer selected for the 2009 Berlinale Talent Project Market.

Lo recently wrapped production on Battle of the Year, to be released worldwide by Sony Pictures in 2013, and she also produced the original documentary that inspired the narrative adaptation. Planet B-Boy was released to critical acclaim from The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Variety, The Wall Street Journal, and Good Morning America, before being picked up for broadcast by MTV.

Lo also associate produced the UK film On A Clear Day, which premiered in competition opening night at Sundance and was acquired for distribution by Focus Features. She previously worked as Head of Development for NY and London-based InFilm Productions, and served on the Selection Advisory Committee for the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program, and review panels for the Gucci Tribeca film grants, the Global Film Initiative, and the International Emmy Awards.

Her work as a writer has aired on PBS for the Foreign Policy Association, and prior to her start in the film industry, she lived and worked in Beijing, China as a freelance writer. Lo grew up in Alaska and graduated from Stanford University with a dual degree in International Relations and Economics.
