Bio
Beverly Kopf received the 2011 Jury Award for Best Documentary for Wish Me Away at the Los Angeles Film Festival. She has a unique background of collaborating with A-list celebrities, creating hit shows and working successfully within a wide range of formats – everything from reality to magazine to talk to long-form documentary. Kopf received an EMMY Award for writing the hit ABC talk show The View. As creator of “Hot Topics,” she helped develop the smart, off-the-cuff conversation that has made the show so successful. For a Barbara Walters segment on Matthew Shepard, she received a GLAAD Media Award.
Prior to The View, Kopf enjoyed a successful career in Hollywood as a Segment Producer and Talent Executive where she conceived, booked, wrote, and produced hundreds of celebrity and issue-oriented segments for Good Morning America, CBS Morning News and Entertainment Tonight.
For four years, Kopf worked with Maria Shriver where she was one of a small creative team that produced innovative, topical and award-winning specials for the NBC News critically acclaimed series, First Person with Maria Shriver.
TVgals Media was formed in 2001 when Beverly Kopf and Bobbie Birleffi joined forces. In 2011, their highly acclaimed feature documentary Chely Wright: Wish Me Away, was released in theaters across the country, distributed by First Run Features. It will air on SHOWTIME in November 2012. Currently, they are producing, directing and writing a series of 40 short portraits of each of the Broadway Theaters for the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment in New York City. The series, Spotlight on Broadway, will have its premiere in the fall of 2013.
