Debalina Majumder is an Indian filmmaker, cinematographer, photographer, and media producer, and a Berlinale Talent and Global Media Makers fellow. Her work explores LGBTQIA+ rights, migration, climate, and citizenship, with films screening at international festivals, classrooms, and community spaces. Her film, Joy Run, appeared at the 55th Berlin International Film Festival, while A Stranger in a Bioscope was shot in Berlin as “Movie of the Week.” She also directed episodes of Satyer Arale, the first Indian-language TV exploration of same-sex relationships. Her films—from …and the unclaimed (2013) to Friends of Jilipibala (2025)—blend activism and storytelling, addressing queer lives, social justice, and ecology.
