Kampmeier’s first feature, Virgin, premiered at the 2003 Los Angeles Film Festival. Subsequently it was nominated for two 2004 Independent Spirit Awards: the John Cassavetes Award (given to the best feature made for under $500,000), and the Best Female Lead, for Elisabeth Moss’s performance. Kampmeier has also directed numerous short films, and worked in theater in New York City for the past 18 years as a writer, director, actor, and teacher.

Hounddog is Kampmeier’s second feature. Robin Wright Penn, Lynn Redgrave, David Morse and Delroy Lindo are attached, with production slated to begin in October 2004. Raye Dowell (Virgin) is producing.
