Bio

Devon Kirkpatrick is a 2015 San Francisco Film Society KRF screenwriting grantee for her feature film The Seahorse. Born and raised in Honolulu, Devon is a 3rd generation islander. She moved to New York City after college, where she began her career in the TV world as the Writers’ Assistant, Script Coordinator and Showrunner’s assistant on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie under creator and showrunner Liz Brixius. She also co-wrote her first feature script, Out of Range, a romantic comedy road trip story, which was selected as an Emerging Narrative for IFP Film Week in 2012 and in the No Borders category in 2013. Upon relocating to Los Angeles, Kirkpatrick worked in creative development at Universal Television and as an Associate Producer on the NBC pilot Girlfriend in a Coma. Most recently, Devon was a 2014 fellow of the American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women where her short film MA/DDY made a splash in film festivals both nationally and internationally after premiering at LACMA’s Young Director’s Night hosted by Elvis Mitchell.
