Bio
Los Angeles-based filmmaker Edward Mensore completed his undergraduate studies at West Virginia University, and he earned his MFA in film and video production from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2002. Since 2010, Mensore has worked as a freelance screenwriter, producer and story and development analyst. He also produced multiple live, projection-based events and theatre throughout the country.
In 2011, Mensore wrote, produced, directed and edited his first feature film, the psychological thriller The Deposition, under his production company Emphatic Films. It was filmed in rural West Virginia on a micro-budget. Throughout the 2011 season, The Deposition won fifteen awards, including Best Narrative Feature Film at WV Filmmaker Festival, Golden Ace Award at Las Vegas International Film festival, Best Editing, Special Effects, and Award of Excellence at Los Angeles Movie Awards, and 2nd Place in Gen-Next category at KahBang International Film festival. Other major festivals the movie has played include: Philadelphia Independent Film Festival, Louisville International Film Festival, Dances With Films, Bare Bones, and Indie Fest.
In 2012, The Deposition was picked up for distribution through Vanguard Cinema. In 2007, Mensore’s short film, The Birthday Boy, won the bronze medal at World-Fest in Houston, TX. The film went on to screen at over thirty festivals.
