Erica Rosbe was born in Nova Scotia, Canada and grew up in California, Michigan and New York, where she attended NYU’s Department of Dramatic Writing, graduating with a degree in playwriting. After college, she wrote dialogue and storylines for video games at Longtail Studios, a subsidiary of Ubisoft, working on games geared towards women like Grey’s Anatomy: The Video Game. With writing partner Sarah Carbiener, Erica wrote the family film Return to Nim’s Island, which premiered on the Hallmark Channel in March 2013 and in theaters in Australia. Also in 2013, Erica and Sarah’s Girls spec script won the sitcom category at the Austin Film Festival. Working with the Mazur/Kaplan Company, they received a Cinereach Fellowhip through Sundance to develop their feature adaptation of Haley Tanner’s debut novel, Vaclav and Lena, about a teenage boy in Brighton Beach who sets out to find his long lost love and put on a magic show. Erica is thrilled to be developing her and Sarah’s latest feature, a comedy called The Sparkle Panthers, with Film Independent.
