Felischa Marye

  • Discipline:Writer
  • Program Year:Project Involve 2013

Bio

Felischa Marye is an MFA candidate in the prestigious UCLA screenwriting program. She transitioned into the film industry after a successful career in public relations/integrated marketing, most recently serving as Vice President at Flowers Communications Group, a boutique Chicago PR firm where she led account teams for such blue-chip brands as Sears, Kmart, Unilever and Miller Brewing Company. Previously as an account manager for Carol H. Williams Advertising and as an ethnic marketing manager at Merisant, makers of Equal Sweetener, Marye supervised the advertising and communications for the companies’ multicultural markets. In these roles, she managed the development of radio, TV, print campaigns and press initiatives/materials for top brands.

Felischa’s skills as a marketer served her well in balancing art with commercial appeal in her work, which has spanned both the comedy and drama genres. Even though she entered UCLA’s screenwriting program only recently in the fall of 2011, her writing has already been noted with a variety of industry honors. Her drama TV pilot, A Grand Life, was named a finalist for the Humanitas Student Fellowship. She is also the recipient of Film Independent’s Project Involve Fellowship, the Streisand/Sony Fellowship, Academy of Arts and Sciences Internship Fellowship and UCLA’s Four Sisters Scholarship.

Marye’s aspirations include a successful career in both television and feature films, in screenwriting, directing and producing roles.
