Bio

Gabrielle Burton wrote the screenplay for Manna From Heaven (MGM DVD). She earned a MFA in screenwriting from the American Film Institute. Her honors include: the Mary Pickford Prize from A.F.I., 1st prize in the Austin Heart of Film Screenplay competition, and a Nicholl fellowship.

Her novels are: Impatient with Desire: The Lost Journal of Tamsen Donner, and Heartbreak Hotel. Her nonfiction books are Searching for Tamsen Donner and I’m Running Away From Home But I’m Not Allowed To Cross The Street. Her articles, essays, and reviews have appeared in the Washington Post, The New York Times, Family Circle, Ms. Magazine.

She blogs for the Huffington Post and the Nervous Breakdown. She lives in Venice, CA.

Current news: Her novel, Impatient with Desire: the Lost Journal of Tamsen Donner (Hyperion, 2010, paperback 2011) was just awarded the Western Heritage Award for Outstanding Western Novel of 2010.
