Imran Hamdulay is a South African writer, director and producer whose work is rooted in memory, place and emotional intimacy. His feature debut, The Heart is a Muscle, premiered at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival and won the Ecumenical Jury Prize, going on to screen at Sydney Film Festival, Cairo International Film Festival and Santa Barbara Film Festival. The film was selected as South Africa’s official submission to the 98th Academy Awards. His films combine political awareness with a deeply humane cinematic voice.
