Jason Staggie is a South African writer‑director whose work explores youth, crime, and social upheaval in South Africa. His debut novel, Risk, was published by Penguin Random House and nominated for a South African Literary Award for Best Young Writer. Jason wrote, directed, and produced the feature documentary Hard Livings, which premiered at the Durban International Film Festival, and his feature script The Rehab received development funding from the National Film and Video Foundation. He is the creator of the 8×60’ drama series Risk and a 2023 Film Independent Global Media Makers and Realness Institute Episodic Lab fellow.
