Bio

Jon Coplon is an independent producer whose films have shown at festivals around the world. He recently produced Jonas Carpignano’s “A Ciambra,” which premiered at Director’s Fortnight at Cannes in 2017 and won the Europa Cinemas Label Award and will be distributed in the US in 2018 by IFC/Sundance Selects. He produced Carpignano’s “Mediterranea” which also had its world premiere at Critics’ Week at Cannes in 2015 and was met with widespread acclaim. Coplon is an alumnus of the Rotterdam Producers Lab at Cinemart, the Torino Film Lab and the Berlinale Talent Campus as well as the Locarno Development Alliance. His films have been the recipient of grants and awards from the Sundance Institute, Cinereach, ARTE, San Francisco Film Society, Doha Film Institute and he was recently a Film Independent Producing Fellow for Jess dela Merced’s first feature “Chickenshit.” “Selene” will be his first US production.

Logline

Selene fears she has laryngitis again. On a routine doctor visit to get antibiotics, she is diagnosed with a rare condition that leaves her permanently voiceless. As her life turns upside down and she struggles to communicate and adapt, she discovers that this limitation leads to the opening of a new world.
