Bio

Karina Armijo was born and raised in Mexico. She discovered her passion for storytelling when she acted in and adapted stories for a local theater in her hometown of Yucatan. She began her career as a writer/director/producer for a television segment called City Chronicles. Her first documentary, Urban Nature, was screened in several domestic film festivals, and later became part of a social campaign to promote recycling. Upon receiving her Bachelors in Communication Media from La Universidad Anahuac del Mayab, she produced the short film Reflections, which premiered at the International Film Festival Expression en Corto. Armijo had the opportunity to work with graduate students from Chapman University producing a short that was filmed in Yucatan. This experience encouraged her to move to Los Angeles and begin her career as an independent film producer. Currently, Armijo is developing a short film project for the prevention of teenage suicide.
