Bio

Hailing from Norwalk, California, Linda Yvette Chavez is the writer of Fieras. As an undergrad at
Stanford, Chavez developed her storytelling talents with legendary playwright Cherrae Moraga, whose
classes inspired her to pursue a writing career. Chavez went on to study Writing for Cinema and
Television at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, earning her MFA, and receiving the prestigious Jack
Nicholson Award for merit in writing. In 2009, Chavez proudly spent a year as a Film Independent
Project Involve Fellow, where she wrote and directed her second short film, Fierce.
Chavez started her career as assistant to the producers on the award-winning documentary Made In
L.A., and as associate producer on PBS/KCET’s A Place of Our Own. In 2010, she helped launch and
establish Comediva, a female driven comedy website, which went on to become a full-service creative
studio, with expertise in launching digital brands. While writing for Comediva, Chavez penned several
viral sketches, including Pinsanity for XO Group and The Wonder of Breasts for the Susan G.
Komen Foundation. She also coexecutive produced Univision Flama’s flagship documentary web
series Chachi’s Dance to Uforia and Drop the Mic with Becky G, which was nominated for a
CableFax Award. Her work with Comediva has been featured all over the internet, including The Huffington Post and Buzzfeed.
