Bio

Lisa Robertson was one of the eight filmmakers selected for the prestigious Film Independent Directing Lab 2014, for her feature screenplay COMMERCE, based on her short film of the same name, which she wrote/directed as part of the AFI Directing Workshop for Women. Her short, COMMERCE, won the Adrienne Shelly Foundation Award Grant in support of taking it to feature at its DGA premiere. Numerous festival awards followed and COMMERCE qualified for Academy Award consideration and was a top five live-action drama short download on iTunes. Lisa was also a fellow of the Film Independent Screenwriters Lab, 2012 for her feature screenplay, COMMERCE.

After enjoying a young career as a professional dancer in her native Australia, Lisa was spotted by director, Jane Campion, and auditioned to final consideration for the role of Kay in SWEETIE. Lisa subsequently trained as an actor in London, San Francisco, and with acclaimed coach, Larry Moss in Los Angeles.

Recognizing her talents as a director/coach, Mr. Moss began referring Lisa industry-wide. Coaching credits include: MUNICH, RENDITION, Eddie Izzard’s lead in THE RICHES, VALKYRIE, OCEAN’S THIRTEEN; the Russell Crowe feature, TENDERNESS; Annabeth Gish in THE BRIDGE, BROTHERHOOD; Noel Fisher in RED, THE PACIFIC. Also, THE STONING OF SORAYA M (title role); THE HUNGER GAMES; MAD MEN; BOSS: UGLY BETTY; BONES; THE O.C in a list that ranges to the hundreds. Her work brought her to the attention of EP/Showrunners, Nicole Yorkin and Dawn Prestwich (THE RICHES, THE KILLING) who mentored her transition to writing and directing.
