Ngima Gelu Sherpa, a visual artist from Nepal’s Everest region, is known for acclaimed shorts including “As Day Goes By” (2024), “Kathmandu Monsoon” (2022), and “Home” (2021), the latter being the first Nepali film in Oberhausen’s main competition. His works have premiered and screened at festivals like Uppsala, Yamagata, DMZ, and Nepal, earning multiple honors. He holds an MA from the Kino Eyes European Movie Masters program on an Erasmus Plus scholarship, and has participated in Berlinale Talents, Rotterdam Lab, and Locarno Open Doors. Beyond filmmaking, he teaches at Kathmandu University, mentors emerging filmmakers, and convenes the Chalachitra (film) Conference.
