Bio

After realizing in 7th grade that he couldn’t do the math and science required to get into veterinary school, Peter Chen had an early life crisis. He then turned his attention to writing and the movies. After toiling for several years as a story analyst, babysitter, tutor, agent’s assistant, and writer’s assistant, he sold the script Untitled Karate Project to Universal Pictures in 2006 with David O. Russell (Flirting with Disaster, Three Kings) attached as a producer. Chen spent 2008 co-writing a feature film script with David O. Russell that is in development.

Chen was a 2009 Film Independent Project:Involve writer/director fellow. He wrote, directed and produced the short film Market Price for Banana Republic, Vanity Fair, and Film Independent in May 2009, which won the Banana Republic Audience Award.

Chen is currently working on Season 5 of the Showtime TV series Dexter. He’s also in post-production on his comedy short film Birders and writing a horror film, which is to be his feature film debut as a director. The Princess Bride and Double Indemnity are his favorite films.
