Bio

Peter Wonsuk Jin is a writer-director who was born in Seoul, Korea. He received his MFA from University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. His thesis film, Portrait of Leonore, received a CINE Golden Eagle Award and a Best of Fest Award. It was also nominated for the Golden Reel Award at the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival. He has written and directed numerous short films, and he associate-produced several Korean commercials that shot in the Los Angeles area. Jin also works as a translator and has translated screenplays for many Korean film professionals including Park Chan Wook (Old Boy, Stoker) and Lee Byung Hun (I Saw the Devil, GI Joe: Retaliation). Currently, Jin works as US assistant to Korean director Bong Joon Ho (Snowpiercer, The Host). He first met Bong while working as a translator on the film Snowpiercer. Throughout the years, Jin has lived in Seoul, Hong Kong, Boston, and Los Angeles. His upbringing as a filmmaker has been informed by Korean cinema, the Hong Kong and Taiwanese New Wave, New Hollywood films, and more. His favorite films are Stephen Chow’s A Chinese Odyssey Part One: Cinderella and A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Pandora’s Box.
