Petrus (“Peet”) van Staden is a South African filmmaker that collaborates internationally—developing and producing projects in South Africa, Tanzania, China and the USA. His films have screened at Locarno, SXSW and Sundance, and reached audiences on MUBI, Topic and Netflix. He is an alumnus of DFMI Business Labs, Film Independent’s Fiction Producing Lab and CNC’s DEENTAL@CANNES initiative.

Peet’s practice pairs creative development with pragmatic financing. He cut his teeth producing roughly ten independent shorts before scaling up to produce an episode of Netflix’s African Folktales Reimagined. He is currently in post-production on a feature documentary, Waking Up in a Dream.
