THE SHAKESPEARE PROJECT (NARRATIVE FEATURE)

Logline

Cadets at an all-male military high school are assigned Romeo and Juliet in their literature class and while reading the play aloud in class the cadets begin to identify with the infectious passion and energy of their characters. In their enthusiasm, they carry Romeo and Juliet out of the classroom and onto the campus - to the firing range, the gym, the mess hall, and to the barracks...and eventually into an alternative reality called Verona where Romeo and Juliet will actually play out. In the dark of night (and sometimes under the influence of smuggled alcohol) they begin to inhabit their roles in ways that weave their real and theatrical identities in unpredictable and discomforting ways - and disrupt their isolated lives irrevocably.
