Bio

S.J. (Summer-Joy) Main began her career in moviemaking as an Intern at Amblin DreamWorks SKG while receiving her undergraduate degree from UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film & Television. She has since worked extensively in film and media production, for a number of filmmakers and film companies including Stanley Donen, Merchant Ivory Productions, Walden Media and River Road Entertainment.

Main has produced, line produced and/or production managed nearly 20 films to date, including shorts, features, commercials and music videos, which have gone on to garner awards and screen in film festivals worldwide. Main has been selected for competitive talent development programs, including those of Film Independent (FIND), Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) and the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP). Main is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post on the subjects of Latino Themes in Film.

Main received a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate Film Division of New York and is currently completing a PhD at the European Graduate School of Switzerland, where she is deconstructing the role of the Commercial Film Producer.

Main was raised in Cambria, California and is Costa Rican-American.
