Sana Zahra Jafri is a Pakistani filmmaker based in Toronto with nine years of experience, exploring stories through a South Asian female lens. Her recent short film as a writer and director, Permanent Guest, had its world premiere in 2025 at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), garnering critical acclaim. A Film Independent, Cite des Arts Paris and Rotterdam Lab fellow, she co-produced Joyland which won the Jury Prize at Cannes and Indie Spirit Award in 2022. She also co-wrote and produced Yasmeen’s, Element (SXSW 2024). Sana is currently developing her debut feature as a writer and directer titled, Scattered Rain.
