Sanjeewa Pushpakumara is a Sri Lankan film director whose films Flying Fish, Burning Birds, Peacock Lament, and Amma (in development) have screened at major international festivals including Locarno, Rotterdam, Busan, Tokyo, London, Black Nights, and MoMA. He has received several international awards, including the Best Artistic Contribution Award at the Tokyo Film Festival and the Best Project Award at the Locarno Film Festival. His projects have been supported by HBF, CNC, Doha Film Institute, the Italian Ministry of Culture, and Cannes film festival. He holds a PhD from Chung-Ang University and currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Canadian University Dubai.
