Bio

Sarah Takahashi is a director of photography as well as a music video director. She shot The Lost Journal of Vice Marceaux, a USC graduate short that earned a Student Emmy Honorable Mention, won Best Drama in Student Films Across America, and placed second in the shorts competition at the 2008 LDS Film Festival. It has been accepted to multiple other film festivals in the U.S. and abroad.

Most recently, Sarah directed Mamasita, a music video performed by Vinyl Soul. The video is a surreal, colorful mix of rhythmic gymnastics ribbon twirling and spicy ballroom samba. The dancing is intertwined with the band Vinyl Soul performing against projected images and an exterior Greek-style theater. It was nominated for Best Music Video by Action on Film Festival 2008, gained an Honorable Mention through the Accolade Competition 2008, and was a semi-finalist in the Action/Cut 2008 Short Film Competition.

In 2003, Sarah directed a documentary about Asian American identity titled Nationality:USA, Ethnicity:American. It was completed as a thesis project and won the Asian American Studies Award at Pomona College. It also became an Official Selection at the 2003 Big Bear Lake International Film Festival.

In addition to working a freelance director of photography, Sarah works as a freelance assistant cameraperson for VH1/MTV reality TV shows, music videos, features, and shorts.
