Born in Turkey, Serhat Karaaslan moved to Istanbul to study Pharmacology at Istanbul University and made his first short film after graduation. Karaaslan was accepted to the master’s program for directing & drama at Kadir Has University, making two more shorts, “Bicycle” and “Musa”. His short films have won more than 50 awards and screened in major film festivals. In 2015, Passed by Censor, Karaaslan’s first feature film, was selected for the Cannes Cinefondation Residence and the Berlinale Talent Project Market. This film later premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2019, winning the FEDEORA Award.
